Stephen Larmour has challenged his Glentoran side to secure consecutive league victories for the first time this season. The Glens host Carrick Rangers at The BetMcLean Oval looking to build on the momentum from a key win over Cliftonville.

Daniel Larmour, the manager, said the 2-1 win at Solitude was significant. "It was a great win over Cliftonville, but also a very important one in the context of our season," he told the club's media. That result, sealed by Jordan Jenkins's 84th-minute strike while down to ten men, ended a five-game winless streak. It lifted the team to fifth place in the Premiership with 13 points from nine matches.

Building on momentum

Larmour knows the importance of following one win with another. His team's recent form shows two wins, a draw, and two losses in their last five outings. The victory over Cliftonville was overseen by caretaker duo Tim McCann and Paddy McCourt, whom Larmour praised for helping players stay focused during a difficult period. Larmour stated. Now, with the permanent boss in place, the aim is to climb closer to the top four, a position just three points away.

A familiar foe

The opponent presents a familiar challenge. Carrick Rangers are managed by Stephen Baxter, who previously coached Larmour at Crusaders, and the squads contain many former teammates. Larmour expects a tough test against a side that is level with Glentoran on points. Last season's encounters were difficult, adding another layer to the fixture. Larmour added.

Glentoran's most recent result was a 2-0 home win over these same opponents just days ago, with Jenkins scoring twice in the first half. That result forms part of a current two-game winning run. The team has scored 13 goals this season while conceding 10. Their next assignment is a home fixture against Dungannon Swifts on 3 October. Check the full schedule on our fixtures list.

Larmour's immediate focus is clear. He wants to give the supporters at The Oval something more to shout about by finally putting together back-to-back wins. Achieving that would mark a tangible step forward in their campaign.
