Lewis McGregor fired home a dramatic winner in the final seconds of added time to give league leaders Coleraine a 2-1 victory over Glentoran at the Oval. The cruel defeat came just days after Declan Devine's departure as manager, ending a resilient Glentoran display that had seen them fight back to level the game.

"Fired home the winner in the final seconds of the game to seal a dramatic 2-1 win for Coleraine over Glentoran at the Oval," McGregor said. The substitute's decisive intervention came after the game appeared to be heading for a draw, extending the Bannsiders' unbeaten run to 14 matches.

Coleraine had taken the lead through another substitute, former Glentoran player Joe Thomson, in the 72nd minute. The hosts responded with spirit, and their own replacement Jordan Jenkins equalised with less than ten minutes remaining, setting up a tense finale. McGregor's last-gasp strike secured all three points for the visitors, leaving Glentoran eighth in the Premiership with seven points from seven games.

The result means Glentoran now sit 12 points behind Coleraine in the title race. They must regroup quickly for a trip to face fourth-placed Cliftonville on Saturday.

Despite the turbulent week, Warren Feeney's side held their own against the league leaders. Goalkeeper Billy Crellin made several important saves, denying Matthew Shevlin and Joel Cooper, while Greg Sloggett saw a volley blocked. The team showed fight after falling behind, a positive sign ahead of a difficult run of games.

Glentoran's recent form shows one win, one draw and three losses from their last five outings. They face Cliftonville at Solitude on 19 September.
